| DIVORCE |
|
Divorce, also known as dissolution of marriage, terminates the marriage relationship. Divorce recognizes that the marriage was valid when it existed.
The grounds for a divorce in Connecticut is irretrievable breakdown. This means that one of the spouses can testify under oath that there is no hope of reconciliation. This is the no fault divorce standard. Although one can file for divorce in Connecticut under a fault based theory, i.e. adultery, it is rarely used anymore as the only basis for a divorce. |
